Service Canada Centres - Employment Insurance

Located across the province (see attached list) these centres are available to the public.
Access information related to employment, retraining opportunities
and government programs and services - provides temporary financial assistance
for eligible unemployed persons while they look for work, upgrade their
skills or while they are sick.

Compassionate Care Benefit
1-800-206-7218 (E) or local HRCC office (see attached list)
Compassionate care benefits are paid to persons who have to be away from work
temporarily to provide care of support to a family member who is gravelly ill
with a significant risk of death.

Persons with Disabilities

Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities
Individuals who self identify as persons with disabilities, are unemployed
and not eligible for Employment Insurance Benefits can access this program
designed to assist them with their return to work - Can request assistance
with this at any HRCC office (see attached list)

Disability Tax Credit
A non-refundable tax credit that qualified recipients can utilize
to reduce the amount of income tax they pay.

BC Ministry of Employment and Income Assistance

BC Housing
A variety of rent supplement programs, including: Shelter Aid for Elderly Renters (SAFER) -
Renters may apply directly to this program. Supported Independent Living Program (SILP) -
Regional health authorities select participants for this program.
