Karen Stacey, a  patient currently waiting for a liver transplant, recently founded the Happy Liver Society of BC.  The Society’s goal is to provide temporary accommodation for liver transplant patients and their family members who must travel to Vancouver for a life saving Liver Transplant.  Liver transplant patients must stay in Vancouver for up to three months following their transplant for post transplant care as an out-patient.

The Happy Liver Society has recently opened The Stacey House, a “home away from home” for post-operative Liver Transplant Patients, is located near Vancouver General Hospital.  It is a one bedroom apartment that will sleep up to four people.  The Happy Liver Society of BC provides for the rent and utilities of this suite.

The Happy Liver Society is raising funds to support Stacey House and also our goal is to promote awareness of liver disease to the greater public.  We promote immunization for Hepatitis A and B for all people, and encourage early screening and detection of liver disease.
